Eric Marentette Black Belt Promotion

On Saturday, November 22nd, 2014, our Head Instructor Eric Marentette was promoted to the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Chris Blanke at the Toledo Jiu-Jitsu Center.

In front of 8 black belts and over 60 other Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu members, coming from as far as Toronto, Chris Blanke put the coveted Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu around Eric's waist. This belt signifies, recognizes and rewards more then 9 years of hard work, sacrifice and leadership by Eric.  

Eric is an avid and successful competitor at the regional, national and international levels. This past year, he has won the Bronze Medal at the Pan-Am and World Championships in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at the Brown Belt level.  In addition to competing and winning competitions himself, Eric leads a formidable and successful competition team to tournaments.

A black belt is a white belt who never quits. This could not be more true for Eric who has overcome a number of obstacles to keep his dream and the dreams of his students alive.

In addition to Eric, Juan Vazquez III was also promoted to Black Belt by Chris Blanke, alongside a number of brown, purple and blue belt promotions.
